Tucked away in Melbourne’s historic Royal Arcade, Caffé e Torta has been part of the city’s café culture for more than 25 years.
Inspired by the traditional cafés of Italy and Europe, we have always believed that a café should be about more than simply grabbing a coffee. It should be a place to sit, talk, meet friends, watch the city go by and enjoy a little time at the table.

Coffee has always been at the heart of Caffé e Torta.
From a morning espresso or cappuccino to an afternoon coffee and something sweet, we serve our coffee with the same simple philosophy that has guided us for more than two decades: quality ingredients, careful preparation and genuine hospitality.
Our menu follows that same approach, with Italian-inspired panini, breakfast and lunch, cakes, pastries and classic favourites such as tiramisu.
And while Melbourne has changed considerably around us, we have tried to preserve something increasingly rare — the atmosphere and personal service of a traditional European café.

Caffé e Torta sits within Melbourne’s beautiful Royal Arcade, connecting Bourke Street Mall with Little Collins Street in the heart of the Melbourne CBD.
Opened in 1869, the Royal Arcade is one of Melbourne’s most recognisable historic shopping arcades. For us, its architecture, character and history make it the perfect home for the kind of café we have always wanted Caffé e Torta to be.
Take a seat at one of our tables and, for a little while, you can escape the pace of the city outside.

After more than 25 years, we remain an independent Melbourne café with a simple aim: good coffee, good food and warm hospitality, served in one of the most beautiful corners of the city.
